Community Service

At O2, we believe in the power of “give and you shall receive.”  During a trip to the O2 reserve, students have the opportunity to do community service with small, local schools near the reserve.  They become part of the local school community, engaging in classroom and recreational activities with the children.  They might work together on facility improvement projects such as refinishing classroom furniture, repainting classrooms, painting murals or landscaping.  They enjoy communal meals at the school.  These cross-cultural experiences are rewarding, heart warming and memorable.

“Although the work done to help the school is deeply appreciated, what is valued even more is the genuine care and love brought to the children at our school.”

Costa Rica Education Program

O2 For Life offers conservation education programs with our partner schools in several local communities near the O2 reserve. This involves 02 staff leading conservation and science activities at the schools. We also host local student groups at the 02 reserve for educational field trips and take groups of high school students on overnight trips into Corcovado National Park.
